• Letter to Parents & Students (English)

    Dear Parents & Students:

    Hello!  I hope this letter finds you all healthy and safe during these "uncertain" & ever-changing times.  I am reaching out to let you know that I am available for any questions or concerns you may have.  My contact information is:

    I have been having problems accessing my school email (the "mudlake" one), so you may have more success with my Yahoo account.  And I can always be reached on my cell phone. 

    I will keep my Teacher page on our school website updated (Mrs. Stewart) and I am updating the Clark Co. Music Dept. Facebook page as often as needed Clark County Music Department Facebook page.  

    The last thing I want to do is place additional stress on students & parents during this adjustment of having school at home.  I realize it will take some time to revamp and transform how "school" works. So please, if any "assignment" you receive overwhelms you (parents and/or students), please let me know & we will work through this.  Now, let's talk about music!  

    Elementary Students:  Starting on Monday, April 13th, I will be sending home a packet of activities that can be worked for the next 6 weeks.  In addition, please look for additional music activities & assignments on my teacher page on the school website: Distance Learning (Mrs. Stewart).  I have made a link for the elementary classes (K-1, 2-3, 4-5).  

    Jr.-Sr. High Band & Choir Students:  Starting on Monday, April 13th, I will be sending home your music assignments (pick them up during lunch delivery).  In addition, please look for additional music activities & assignments on my teacher page on the school website: Distance Learning (Mrs. Stewart).  There is only 1 link for all Jr./Sr. high band & choir students.  I will also be finding out who has their instrument and music at home.  

    I will check in with you once a week (or more often if needed) to see how things are going for you, and see what I can do to help you with any of your school work.  At that time, I will let you know when and how to submit music assignments.  (For example--one assignment might be completing 2 "Bingo" squares & submitting them by picture/video via email, Facebook or text).  Since assignments will vary, the method of submitting may vary also.

    The majority of your school week should focus on your "core" classes (Reading, Writing, Math) followed by science & social studies.  Your music assignments should not take very long, so if "time-to-complete" the assignment becomes a concern, please let me know.

    Elementary assignments are supplemental and should be fun--they can also be a needed "break' from the core materials.

    Jr./Sr. high assignments are required to be completed in order to ensure a "competition" grade and to receive credit for the band or choir class.  Most (if not all) of the assignments will be given full credit WHEN the assignment is completed (not "graded" on right or wrong).

    I miss seeing your awesome faces each day and sharing music with you all!  I plan on putting together some Zoom class meetings so we can see each other & connect while we shelter in place in the safety of our homes.  I will post the link here on the webpage a few days before the meeting, and also put on the music Facebook page so you can all join, have a chance to "see" each other & let us know what's happening in your isolation place.
