HS Chemistry Teacher/ CCSH Interventionist

Hello! My name is Amanda Mickelsen, and I am excited to be part of the Clark County School
District team. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science/Agribusiness, and my background and
love of science have given me a strong appreciation for hands-on learning and connecting what
students learn in the classroom to the real world.
I currently teach high school Chemistry and also work as an interventionist, supporting students in
a variety of subjects and helping them build confidence in their academic abilities. I especially
enjoy finding ways to make science understandable, practical, and engaging for students.
My husband, Coltin, and I are raising our three children, Tiffany, Klancey, and Rafe, here in Idaho.
Our family has strong roots in agriculture and the western way of life. My husband works as a
ranch hand, and much of our family life revolves around horses, livestock, 4-H, sports, and the
outdoors.
When I’m not at school, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, working with our
animals, helping with 4-H projects, or tackling one of the many projects that come with family and
ranch life.
I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the students and families of our small community. My
goal is to create a classroom where students feel respected, supported, challenged, and
comfortable asking questions. I believe every student is capable of learning and growing, and I’m
excited to be part of that journey.
